It has been an exciting week in 4th grade! We've begun exploring WWII in an effort to help us understand some historical fictions novels we are about to begin reading, we've enjoyed plugging adjectives into an unknown story (think Mad-Lib style) for a few giggles, we've learned how to create equivalent fractions by multiplying and dividing, we've started to think about what it means to write a literary essay, and we've continued exploring the design and organization of our government. Additionally, we got to join with ALL of HC at our Eastertide Service celebrating our resurrected Savior! It has been a full and fun week!
Today was a beautiful day for a walk in the woods exploring the growth that Spring brings with it. We marveled at God's design of different wildflowers!
SWIMMING LESSONS - If you haven't already done so, please complete the bottom portion of the swimming form and return it to school with your child this coming week. Swimming lessons begin the following week.
END OF YEAR AUCTION - This year the students have been earning tickets in our classroom and are anticipating the auction in our classroom where they get to spend those tickets. There will be some live auction items as well as some items assigned a purchase price. I'm turning to you to help me create a nice supply of prizes that the students will be excited about. These can be brand new items, but also "garage sale" quality items as well - something that your child is done with but another child might still enjoy. Typically the items range in price from $1-$10+. I usually pick up quite a few things myself as well, focusing on novelty toys, popular toys, seasonal toys, candy/food items, activities, etc. If you have anything you'd be willing to donate or purchase, please feel free to send that into school at any time. I'll begin creating a pile in my office in preparation for the big day during the last week of school.
FROM THE ROSE PARK OFFICE:
Upcoming Dates:
April 27 - May 8: Swim Lessons 1st - 4th at Holland Aquatic Center
Book Fair: Exciting news… we have a new book fair company this year—Literati—and the online fair is officially live! Shopping online is a great way to find books that won’t be available at the in-person fair. It’s also the best way to purchase from teacher wishlists, since some of those titles may not be on-site. A special bonus: Gift cards are available online! This makes it easy for students to shop at the fair without bringing cash to school. Start browsing here: https://literati.com/store/?school=rose-park-christian-school-holland-mi Happy reading!
On Thursday, April 23 we will host “Lunch with a Loved One” from 11:15-12:15 in the small gym. This is a time to join your student(s) for lunch and to shop the book fair together!
Additional in-person book fair hours will be: Wednesday April 22 from 2-4pm, Thursday April 23 from 10:30-12:30 & 2-4pm, Friday April 24 from 2-4pm; we would love to have you stop by at any of those times.
