ABCs & 123s

It's been another great week in 4th grade!

After learning about different kinds of spiders, we made walking spiders with our kindergarten buddies.

Happy Double Digits Day, sweet one!

MATH TEST - We are nearly masters at multiplication!  We will spend a portion of this week reviewing all that we've learned, and concluding with a test mid-week.

PUBLISHED STORIES - We are excited to be taking home our published realistic fiction stories next week!  Please have your child read it to you and celebrate your child's successes and growth with them.  Ask them what they are most proud of.  Ask them what was hardest for them.  Ask them about the process they went through to write this story (generating ideas, creating a story mountain, drafting, showing rather than telling, telling the story through dialogue, paragraphing, including a problem, solution and heart message, writing a great lead and conclusion, editing alone and with a peer, and publishing).  Ask them what they enjoyed the most.  These have hours and hours of work poured into them, so any appreciation you can give will be happily received.

WRITING - Up next....literary essays!  After we sort through some stories with life lessons in them, we will each choose one as the subject of our literary essay.

READING - We have completed our character study unit, and are moving into a unit about reading Informational Texts.

SCIENCE - Next week we will start learning about God's design of plants and people in our new science unit, Built for Survival.  Miss Damsteegt will be teaching us for this uint.
