ABCs & 123s

We've spent some time this week, and will continue in the next two weeks, learning about the season of Advent.  The students are experiencing waiting for our Savior to come as we revisit the stories of the Old Testament leading up to the birth of Christ, and followed by his death and resurrection.  Then we recognize that we are still waiting for Christ to come again.  In this waiting we find hope, peace, joy, and love - concepts celebrated each of the four Sundays of Advent.  In our classroom we are marking this waiting period and celebration as well.  I pray that you will also feel the hope, peace, joy and love that comes in this season!

Reading is more fun when we read in a novel location!

Another celebration for another sweet one!

MATH FACT PRACTICE - If you need a new idea for practicing the multiplication facts at home, here are some pics of a handy card you (or your child) can make for each fact family.  It is made on an index card - one side is multiplication and one side is division.  It helps show the correlation between the two operations, as well as help memorize the facts, one family at a time.   I hope you find it helpful.

GUINEA PIG SLEEPOVER - If you are interested and willing to add a little entertainment into your household during the two weeks of Christmas break (or others times after the new year), please sign up here.  Stormi is very low maintenance - ask anyone who has already had her.๐Ÿ˜  Thanks in advance!

LUNCH HELPER DEC. 9 - As I anticipate a meeting at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 9, I'm looking for someone who would be able to sit with the students in our classroom as they eat lunch that day (11:15-11:50).  If your calendar is free, please sign up here

CHRISTMAS PARTY - Our class Christmas party is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 18 from 12:15-2:00ish.  If you're able to help out with the planning and execution of this fun event for the kids, please shoot me an email. We've got a couple moms already working on the plans, but they would welcome some help, I'm sure.  Thanks in advance!

COOKIE SALE - Plan to send a small amount of money (cookies are 50cents) to school with your child on Thursday (Dec. 11) so they can purchase a cookie or two at the Kindergarten cookie sale that day!

LONG DIVISION - You guys, we are conquering it!  The students now know how to do long division!  I'm so happy and proud of their hard work.  Ask them to amaze you with their skills!๐Ÿ˜‰

ORCHESTRA CHAPEL - I hear we will be treated to a special band/orchestra concert at Rose Park this coming week on Monday morning at 8:30.  I hope to see you there!

WORD WORK TEST - Your child will be bringing home a new list on Monday, but we won't be testing on those words until Thursday, Dec. 18.  That will be our last list between now and Christmas Break.
