REPORT CARDS - Report cards and finished and ready for you in your power school account. Please take some time to celebrate your child's successes with them.
WORD WORK, READING & MATH MINUTES - This coming week will be our last week of these normal routines before Spring Break. So plan for a spelling test on Friday, the 27th, and plan to return the reading and math minutes on Monday, the 30th. Thank you!
LANSING TRIP - The big day is coming! Please read over the purple note that came home last week, or check out the same information in this blog post.
CONFERENCES - We are looking forward to student-led conferences beginning this coming Thursday! Your 4th grader will have prepared a number of things to go over with you. Please plan to leave siblings at home or outside of the room while we meet. This will be a special time for just you, your 4th grader, and me to reflect on their growth.
GUINEA PIG - Are you going to be home for the majority of Spring Break? Our guinea pig, Stormi, is looking for a place to stay where she will be warm and fed. She can go a day or two without fresh food, so if you have a night or two away planned, she will still be just fine. But when you are home, she is sure to be a good source of entertainment for the kids in your home! If you are able to take her for the week, please sign up here. Thank you!
EXCITING WEEK AHEAD! This coming week we will be traveling to Hope College twice! On Tuesday we are going to be part of the Link-Up Concert (students will need to take their recorders along for that one!) and on Thursday we are going to hear author Christina Soontornvat. We have been reading her Newbery Award novel A Wish in the Dark in class. The kids have LOVED it! It focuses on many themes that we have been discussing, but especially heavy on the theme of Law vs. Justice. The kids have been struggling with this idea, and so I have asked our HC Chaplain, Bryant Russ, to come and talk us through how to view this idea from a Biblical perspective even though the book isn't specifically a "Christian" story. I'm very excited for his visit on Tuesday. I know this group of students will embrace the opportunity to think deeply about how Christ calls us to act in a corrupt world.
